Tearful farewell to Nandigama MLA Tangirala VIJAYAWADA: Thousands of people, including several top TDP leaders, bid a tearful adieu to Nandigama MLA-elect Tangirala Prabhkara Rao who died of cardiac arrest Sunday night at Nandigama in Krishna district.
The body of Prabhakara Rao was laid to rest at a government site on Madhira Road in Nandigama town Monday evening.
Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who arrived in Nandigama Monday morning, placed a wreath on the mortal remains of the departed leader Prabhakara Rao and paid his last respects at the KVR Degree College where the body was kept to enable the public to pay their homage.
Naidu said that Prabhakara Rao was an honest and disciplined leader and his demise was a great loss to the party and the people of the region. Irrigation minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, MLAs Vallabhaneni Vamsimohan, Bonda Umamaheswara Rao, Gadde Rama Mohana Rao, Sriram Rajagopal, former MLA Dasari Balavaradhan Rao and other political leaders paid last respects to the mortal remains of Prabhakara Rao and expressed their shock and grief over his sudden demise.
A large number of advocates also participated in the funeral procession. It may be recalled that Prabhakara Rao, (64), complained of chest pain around 10:30 pm Sunday at home following which he was rushed to a private hospital in Nandigama town where he died.
He, along with irrigation minister Devineni Umamaheshwara Rao, excise minister Kollu Ravindra and other TDP leaders, visited Pulichintala dam and returned home around 9 pm Sunday. He died soon after his return.
