Kodela, Kala in race for Speaker's post HYDERABAD: Ahead of the commencement of the maiden session of Andhra Pradesh Assembly, chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has intensified the exercise of picking suitable candidates for the two coveted posts- Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the new House.
As part of this exercise, Naidu held separate meetings with four MLAs of his party, who are in the race for the Speaker post. Of those four legislators two are from BCs.
hey are - five-time MLA Kimidi Kala Venkata Rao (Etcherla), who belongs to Srikakulam district and hails from Thurpu Kapu caste and first-time legislator Kaluva Srinivas (Rayadurg), who hails from Boya community in Anantapur district.
The remaining two MLAs whose candidature Naidu is considering for the Speaker post are -six-time MLA Kodela Siva Prasada Rao (Sattenapalli) and five-time legislator Dhoolipala Narendra Kumar (Ponnur). The two leaders belong to Guntur district and hail from Kamma community.
The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister is expected to take a final decision on finalising the names for the Speaker and Deputy Speaker posts on Thursday.
There are two more candidates in the fray for the post. They are Kaluva Srinivas (Rayadurg) who hails from Boya Community in Anantapur district and Dhoolipala Narendra Kumar a kamma from Ponnur in Guntur district. Naidu held separate meetings with all the four probable candidates for the post.
