Former minister Balaraju injured in a mishap Visakhapatnam, June 19: Former minister Pasupuleti Balaraju severely injured in a road mishap in the wee hours of Thursday. The ex-minister of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh state government met with an accident at Mulagapudi of Nathavaram mandal in Visakhapatnam district when he was returning to Vizag after attending a marriage.
Balaraju along with four more people travelling in a vehicle when it was overturned after it hit a tree near Mulagapudi village under Nathavaram mandal in the district. They were on their way back to home after attending a marriage function.
In this accident, along with Balaraju P. Sathish Verma, the Visakhapatnam DCC President, also sustained serious injuries. Cops said that the driver lost control over the vehicle at a turning and hit a road-side tree around 2.40 am.
The injured were shifted to Narsipatnam area hospital for first aid and later were admitted to King George Hospital. All of them were them were stated to be out of danger.
Pasupuleti Balaraju was born in Gudem Kotha Veedhi mandal in Visakhapatnam district. Balaraju was elected to the Andhra Pradesh legislative assembly from the Chintapalle constituency in 1989 and from Paderu constituency in 2009 in Visakhapatnam district on Indian National Congress party ticket.
He became a minister in the cabinets of Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy and N. Kiran Kumar Reddy holding Tribal Welfare portfolio. Before entering into politics he worked as bus conductor, Teacher & Coffee board president. He entered into politics at the age of 27 as mandal president. All his followers rushed to hospital upon knowing the news.
