You won't get water, Harish warns AP Govt Sangareddy (Medak): 'If we take it seriously, you will not get even water,' Telangana irrigation minister T Harish Rao has warned the Andhra Pradesh government which wants cancellation of the draft power purchase agreements (PPAs).
Speaking to reporters here, Harish Rao, however, hastened to add: 'We will not do such things (stopping water to AP)'. He wondered why AP chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who boasts that he treats Telugus in AP and Telangana equally, requested the ERC to cancel the PPAs which would be detrimental to the interests of the farmers in Telangana state.
'We strongly condemn Naidu's decision. Even after the bifurcation of the state, Naidu is being vindictive towards Telangana,' Harish Rao alleged.
The central government too found fault with the decision of the AP government to cancel the PPAs, he claimed and said that Telangana should get its share of power as mentioned in the AP Reorganisation Act.
'If the AP government stops power supply to Telangana, the Telangana state government will purchase power and supply it to farmers in the state,' the irrigation minister assured.
He said Hyderabad would be common capital for ten years and the AP chief Minister and others would reside in Hyderabad for ten years. The decision to cancel the PPAs exposed the narrow mindedness of Naidu, Harish Rao alleged.
He said the Telangana government would fully utilise the Krishna and Godavari river waters allocated to the state and tanks would be modernised to store more water. He said that the state government would spend Rs 47.81 crore to build 500 additional classrooms in Medak district.
