Vijayamma may contest in Allagadda by-poll Hyderabad: YSRC honorary president YS Vijayamma, according to highly placed sources in the party, may likely contest in Allagadda by-poll. The by-poll was necessitated owing to the death of party nominee Sobha Nagireddy a couple of weeks before polls held to AP Assembly on May 7 in a road accident.
After Sobha's death Election Commission of India decides no to countermand the polls and to go ahead with the polls. The ECI had also announced in the event of deceased candidate Sobha winning the elections, a by-poll will be held to elect a new legislator.
YS Vijayamma who contested for Visakhapatnam lok Sabha constituency has been trounced by her nearest rival and BJP nominee Kambampati Hari Babu with a huge majority. The shocking defeat of Vijayamma has sent shock waves across the rank and file of the YSRCP, which was also got a severe drubbing in the hands of it arch rival TDP in the recently held polls for AP Assembly
On the other hand, even after the tragic death of Shobha Nagireddy, the YSR Congress Party candidate from the Allgadda assembly constituency, she was elected by the people of the constituency with a huge majority.
Initial speculations were that the YSRCP ticket would be allotted to some other member of the bereaved family of Sobha Nagireddy. However, it was all before the announcement of results. If the buzz is to be believed, YS Vijayamma would contest the by-elections from Allagadda assembly constituency.
