Naidu targets Jagan, forms GoM on corruption HYDERABAD: In what is being seen as a move to corner YSRC chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, who is already facing a CBI probe into his alleged disproportionate assets, the AP government decided to review all decisions taken by the previous governments beginning with the YSR regime.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu constituted a Group of Ministers (GoM) to look into the 'illegal decisions' taken by the previous Congress governments.
This means, all the land allocations to SEZs and companies and water allocations to cement factories as well as mining leases that have become controversial and attracted CBI interest will be scrutinised by the GoM.
The step is being viewed as a precursor to cancellation of land deals and mining leases sanctioned during the YSR, Rosaiah and Kiran Reddy regimes.
The government, however, claimed the GoM was constituted for 'Tackling Corruption and Protection of Public Properties and Revenues', with a specific mandate to review all cases of illegal alienation of natural resources like land, SEZs, forest wealth, mines, minerals and revenue loss caused due to illegal liquor sales, embezzlement of public money in public works, especially irrigation.
Ministers Y Ramakrishnudu (Finance), K Srinivas (Health), K Atchannayudu (Labour & Employment) and P Raghunath Reddy (Information & Public Relations) are the members of the GoM.
According to the government, the GoM will also recommend measures to make financial governance of the State transparent, fair and efficient. The Principal Secretary (Land Revenue) will be the convener of the GoM.
Sources in the government said all cases which have been investigated by the CBI and the CID will come under the purview of the panel. Soon after becoming Chief Minister, Naidu had denied witch hunt against Jagan and said law will take its own course.
