Three held for murder of housewife at Masula MACHILIPATNAM: The police arrested three persons in connection with the gruesome murder of a woman here. Addressing a press conference, Machilipatnam DSP KV Srinivasa Rao said the police found the body of a woman in the paddy fields near Bhogireddy Palle village on June 11 and identified the deceased as Kadiyala Swarnalatha (27), daughter of a doctor belonging to Bachupet in Machilipatnam town.
Swarnalatha had been residing in Vishakapatnam with her husband after her marriage. She came to Machilipatnam along with her two-year old son to see her parents.
It is said that later she had met her 'old acquaintance' Maraka Srinivas who took her to a secluded place on the outskirts of the town where he, along with his two accomplices - Kumbha Srinivas and Machu Srinivas - relieved her of gold jewellery.
Later, they allegedly strangled her with her 'chunni' and disfigured her face with a sharp weapon. The father of the deceased identified the body.
The police arrested main accused in the case M Srinivas and his two accomplices and recovered some of the gold ornaments. During the interrogation, the accused admitted to the crime. Srinivas married thrice and is now living with his third wife.
