Husband pours acid on wife suspecting her fidelity RAJAHMUNDRY: A housewife suffered serious injuries after her husband attacked her with acid suspecting her fidelity at Gummalladoddi in Gokavaram mandal of East Godavari district on Saturday.
She has been admitted to the government hospital here and her condition is said to be critical. Urban SP TRK Murthy visited the victim, K Subba Lakshmi (26) at the hospital. The Gokavaram police have registered a case.
According to Gokavaram sub-inspector R Shivaji, the victim, K Subba Lakshmi has married to a lorry cleaner K Srinu (36) for seven years now and they have a daughter.
They were living at Gummalladoddi, though Srinu is a native of Nandarada village. Srinu was harassing his wife suspecting her fidelity.
Unable to tolerate this, she went to her parents' house in the same village and refused to live with Srinu despite several pleas made by him.
In a fit of rage, Srinu poured acid on his wife at his in-laws' house Saturday. She was immediately shifted to the government hospital in Rajahmundry in a 108 ambulance by her parents where she is currently battling for life.
Rajahmundry urban district (North zone) deputy superintendent of police Murali Krishna and inspector AS Rao rushed to the spot and enquired about the incident.
