News: Headline News | Naidu, KCR for Delhi with wishlists Hyderabad : Narendra Modi-led NDA government at the Centre will be hard pressed to accede to the wishlists of Chief Ministers of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh later this week.
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will be visiting Delhi with elaborate lists of demands for funds for their nascent States. Both the Chief Ministers are expected to be in Delhi on June 25 or 26. They may have combined meeting with Union Home, Finance and Energy Ministers.
The Centre has asked the chief ministers to visit Delhi to solve the power issue that has become a controversy. The energy ministry wants to arrange a compromise between both chief ministers over the power purchase agreements (PPAs) issue.
The Centre doesn't want any rift between both the states on any issue and wants to settle the issues at the earliest so that they did not precipitate. It has taken note of the PPAs issue and asked the CMs to visit Delhi.
On the other hand both the chief ministers have their own agenda containing the problems of their respective states for their Delhi tour. These issues would be taken up with the finance, irrigation and home ministries.
KCR wants immediate allotment of All India Service officers to the state so that the administration could be streamlined. He might ask the home department to see that the Pratyush Sinha committee completes its exercise and submits report.
KCR may take up the Polavaram ordinance issue with the Centre and might ask to withdraw it. He was against it and stated that his party would oppose the Bill on the ordinance in Parliament.
He may ask the Centre go give special status to Telangana on par with Andhra Pradesh state. The chief minister argued that the state has all the required qualification for granting special status.
Another prominent demand he may put forward during his Delhi visit before the Centre is national project status to Pranahitha-Chevella lift irrigation scheme. He may point out that the previous government has made a promise in this regard.
Chandrababu Naidu too has a wishlist. He would seek Rs 15,000 crore funds from the Centre to overcome the budgetary deficit in this financial year. He may ask devolution of more funds.
Naidu may argue with the Centre in favor of PPAs agreements' scrapping decision and to allow the AP government to enter into fresh PPAs with AP Genco. He may insist that the decision was in accordance with the laws and acts.
The AP chief minister may ask the Centre to provide funds for the construction of new capital city for his state. He may ask the Centre to get the report of Sivaramakrishnan Committee report on it at the earliest.
