KCR to attend ceremony of Tata's Aerospace Project HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will participate as chief guest at the ground breaking ceremony of Tata group's new aerospace project for the manufacture of Do 228 NG aircraft fuselage and wings, a joint venture with RUAG (Germany), at Novotel Hyderabad Convention Centre here.
The Tata group which expanded its presence in the Aerospace sector, entering into a new partnership with RUAG Aviation Services GmbH for the manufacture of the fuselage and wing for the Dornier 228 NG aircraft.
This is the fourth aero structures unit to be set up by Tata Advanced Systems since 2009 in Hyderabad and is a significant step in its growth, according to an release.
The products of all the units are 100 percent exported earning valuable foreign exchange. In a short span of five years, Tata Advanced Systems has become a significant player in the global aerospace market, making Hyderabad one of the premier manufacturing destinations for global OEMs.
It delivered over 70 Sikorsky S-92 cabins, indigenised the production of the entire S-92 cabin and through its JV with Lockheed Martin delivered the Empennage and Centre Wing Box.
It also developed capabilities through the entire aerospace value chain from design to full aircraft assembly. It has set up a training centre for young engineers, a majority of whom are from Hyderabad, to international aerospace standards.
The Dornier 228 New Generation is currently the most productive, most reliable and the most up-to-date 19-seat aircraft in the skies.
Highlights include the high-quality glass cockpit with its cutting-edge avionics, the five-bladed propeller made of fibre composite materials, and the optimised twin TPE 331-10 engines with improved hot and high performance.
No other aircraft in its class can transport as many passengers or as much cargo over a comparable distance as the Dornier 228 NG, the release said.
