KCR shifts to Begumpet residence Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao moved into the official residence at Begumpet from his Banjara Hills home on Sunday morning. He will also use it as camp office for carrying out official work when out of the Secretariat.
This sprawling complex of CM's residence built during the tenure of YS Rajasekhara Reddy was lying vacant since former chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy demitted office three months ago. Initially, KCR was not willing to move over to this building on the ground that there were some vastu related defects.
So, the officials in turn searched for another suitable complex at Kundan Bagh government quarters and zeroed in on three IAS and IPS officers bunglows for the purpose of using them as the chief minister's residence.
However, KCR after visiting them two weeks ago found that the buildings were not convenient and finally settled for the Begumpet official residence.
Before moving over to his new residence, KCR performed 'Sudershana Yagam' and vastu puja in the early hours. KCR's wife Sobha, son and IT minister KT Rama Rao and his family and daughter and MP Kavitha with her family besides several ministers, a small group of party leaders and family friends were present during the ceremonies.
