No crisis if AP doctors leave: Dy CM Rajaiah HYDERABAD: Deputy chief minister and health minister T Rajaiah, on Tuesday, dismissed the talk that if Seemandhra doctors leave, the health sector in Telangana will plunge into crisis.
'We have qualified doctors. We will recruit some more and there will be no crisis,' he said at Osmania General Hospital (OGH).
Rajaiah visited the hospital to flag off the Bhojanamrita food distribution vehicles, operated by Hare Krishna Movement to provide free lunch to the attendants of patients at government hospitals.
The Health minister said if Heads of Department (HoD) are punctual and fulfil their responsibilities, then every worker will meet their job expectations. 'The HoDs should not hesitate to take action against erring workers,' he said.
Before attending a program where he was felicitated by Telangana Government Doctors Association, OGH Unit, he paid a visit to the In-Patient (IP) block.
Doctors competed with each other to give their suggestions on how to improve facilities at the hospital. Rajaiah pointed out that they did not take part in the agitation for separate state, but now holding the mike and speaking for hours.
The minister faced a deluge of complaints and representations by various departments. He said he is aware of all the problems and promised to solve them.
Regarding contract employees at the hospital, Rajaiah said the contracts expiring at the end of this month will be extended by one more year.
'Budget will be allocated in August. Wait till that time. Later, we will discuss and decide how to regularise jobs in a phased manner,' Rajaiah said.
Several doctors from the city, including Director of Medical Education (DME) Putta Srinivas, explained to the minister about state of the In-Patient (IP) Block at OGH; why an alternative building needs to be built; and reasons for delay in the construction.
While addressing a gathering at the hospital, Rajaiah said he will pursue the matter of constructing buildings for OGH near Chanchalguda prison.
