AP told to maintain status quo on PPAs row HYDERABAD: The Southern Regional Load Despatch Centre directed the AP government to maintain status quo in drawing power from the grid till the Centre resolved the power purchase agreements (PPAs) row.
Both Telangana and AP lodged complaints with the Centre over power sharing issue and the Centre directed the SRLDC to resolve the same. The SRLDC held a meeting with energy officials of both the States in Bangalore.
Though the SRLDC decision is being viewed as the second big blow to AP, which faced a similar rejection from the ERC, its officials played it down.
AP's contention is that power plants located in the State should serve it alone and not Telangana as decided during bifurcation of the State. It called power distribution on the basis of consumption 'unjust' and demanded that it be reviewed.
AP should now follow the existing order and honour the power distribution ratio of 53.98 percent to Telangana and 46.11 to itself.
