 News: Headline News | GHMC bans Haleem 'batties' on roads, floor tops Hyderabad, June 26 (INN): GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar has strictly directed the hoteliers not to keep their Haleem Batties on the top floors keeping in view of tragic incident occurred at City Light Hotel last year which took 18 precious lives.
The Commissioner held a review meeting with all the hoteliers of GHMC limits who are in involved in making Haleem in connection with the holy season of Ramzan in Pawnar Hall of GHMC Headquarters on Thursday.
He directed the hoteliers to set up their kitchen establishments in the ground floors only. He further directed them to put up at least one fire extinguisher as a precautionary measure to face any untoward incident.
Somesh Kumar warned the hoteliers who keep their haleem batties on road side and occupying the footpaths for eating and parking purposes. He also directed the hoteliers not to through waste materials on the roads and directed them to place the waste materials in bags and can utilize the services of bulk garbage system and can handover the waste material in the GHMC sanitation workers.
Some of the hoteliers informed the Commissioner that lot of amount is being spent for diesel etc., for the generators due to power cuts and also requested the Commissioner to look in to the matter of power cuts and also harassments from the police to close the hotels by 11AM sharp in some of the outskirt areas, responding to their plea the Commissioner assured that he will be coordinating with the electricity officials and Police department and necessary orders will be issued very shortly so that they can go ahead without any hindrance.
The Commissioner informed that the GHMC is planning to conduct a competition for best hoteliers in preparing Haleem in the middle of the Ramzan month and fields such as hygiene, quality and sanitation of the area will be taken in to the consideration for finalization of the winner.
He has requested the hoteliers to procure meat only from authorized GHMC slaughter houses and not from other sources and to prepare the Haleem much more better than of yesteryears.
Somesh Kumar, Commissioner, GHMC requested the hoteliers to maintain quality, hygiene and to take all the precautionary measures taken well in advance without giving any scope of inconvenience to the citizens.
The hoteliers thanked the Commissioner for sparing the time and giving good suggestions and assured the Commissioner that all precautionary measures will be taken care and if any problems arise they will be contacting the concerned officials for helping them to sort out any such issues.
