AP Assembly may move into Jubilee Hall Hyderabad : The Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly, which had commenced its first session in the Old Assembly hall last week, might move to the more spacious Jubilee Hall in the Public Gardens in the coming days, if the Speakers of the AP and Telangana Assemblies come to an agreement.
A meeting took place between Andhra Pradesh Assembly speaker K Sivaprasada Rao and his counterpart of Telangana S Madhusudana Chari on Thursday.
Telangana Legislative Affairs minister T Harish Rao and the officials of both the Houses too were at the meeting. They reportedly discussed the issues that might arise if both legislative houses meet simultaneously for the forthcoming budget session.
If their impromptu talk leads to action, the Legislative Council of Telangana will be shifted to the Old Assembly building within the existing Assembly premises. Presently, Telangana Legislative Council is run from the Old Council Hall, adjacent to the Jubilee Hall.
Likewise, the Legislative Assembly of Andhra Pradesh which is currently operated from the Old Assembly building adjacent to the Telangana legislative assembly will be shifted to the Jubilee Hall.
The changes are necessitated by simultaneous sessions of legislative houses of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are posing serious problems and presiding officers of them are mulling to reallocate the buildings to resolve them.
The presiding officers have felt that there are bound to be several security and other protocol issues if the two Assemblies and Councils exist as of now.
Both the Speakers are believed to have come to a conclusion that it would be better to reallocate the buildings so that Assembly and Council session of both legislative houses are held side by side.
The Speakers felt that this arrangement would resolve the problems like protocol and security and other issues. Andhra Pradesh Assembly might be held at Jubilee Hall, where as its council's session could be held at the present Council hall where Telangana Council is sitting for sessions.
It might be recalled here that Andhra Pradesh Assembly speaker K Sivaprasada Rao expressed discontent over the arrangement in old Assembly hall and suggested to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to conduct the next session elsewhere in Andhra region.
