AP to get 177 MW from NTPC HYDERABAD: The Union ministry of power decided to allocate 177 MW of power from National Thermal Power Corporation's (NTPC) Jhajjar power plant in Haryana to Andhra Pradesh which is expected to be made available to the AP grid within three days.
Following the decision, chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials of the energy department and utilities to work out modalities for securing the allocated power at the earliest.
Consequent to the request of the chief minister during his recent visit to Delhi, the ministry of coal has issued instructions to the Western Coal Fields, Maharashtra to enter into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with APGenco for allocation of 4 lakh tonnes of coal to AP thermal power projects to optimise coal stock which ultimately paves way for running thermal units at the highest plant load factor (PLF). A communication has been received by AP Genco from Western Coal Fields in this regard.
During the telephonic review from Chennai, Naidu directed officials to further explore all possibilities of procuring maximum power. This should be in addition to operating the existing power plants to the optimum level which is the need of the hour to meet the requirements of the people and to overcome power shortage to the maximum possible extent.
'Whatever steps you initiate or propose, the government will extend its full support. Our ultimate goal is to provide maximum power to improve power supply at this critical juncture of power shortages. For achieving this, power officials should work round the clock to provide better service to people,' he told officials.
The chief minister also directed Ajay Jain, principal secretary (energy-FAC) and K Vijayanand, managing director of APGenco, to liaise with the railway ministry and fix sufficient number of rakes/wagons for smooth transportation of coal to power stations. The APTransco is in touch with the ministry of power to receive the agreed-upon additional power of 65 MW of central generating stations (CGS) after correction of the ratio between the two states.
The chief minister also directed his secretary in the chief minister's office G Sai Prasad, who had served as joint secretary in the Union ministry of power, to interact with officials of the ministries of coal and power on a regular basis.
