Dark spell in AP as power stations trip HYDERABAD: Several parts of Andhra Pradesh plunged into darkness Friday night with power generation stations tripping one after the other due to 'technical glitches.'
There is a loss of 210 MW at VTPS unit one, 210 MW at RTPP unit 1, 250 MW at Krishnapatnam, 500 MW at Simhadri unit 2 and 700 MW in Central power generation stations.
'The demand in Eastern Discom, which covers five districts from Srikakulam to West Godavari is 2,200 MW but the supply is just over 1500,' a senior official said. If this continues, even trains may have to be halted between Vizag and Odisha, he said.
