Monsoon turns active, more rain predicted HYDERABAD: Finally, the south west monsoon seems to have well and truly arrived. The Hyderabad Meteorological Centre announced that the 'monsoon is active over coastal regions of Andhra Pradesh.' It has been raining in different parts of coastal and Rayalaseema regions in AP and a few places in Telangana.
According to Met officials, more rains are expected in both the States in the next 24 hours owing to a trough of low pressure over northern Jharkhand, which is moving towards the south.
However, on Sunday, severe heat wave conditions prevailed in Krishna, Visakhapatanam, East Godavari, Guntur, Nellore and Prakasam districts of Andhra Pradesh and Nalgonda district in Telangana.
Tirupathi received the maximum rainfall of 11 cm on Saturday night while Konakamitla and Permallapalli in Prakasam and Chittoor districts received 9 cm each followed by Tada, Puttur and Chittoor etc with 6 cm. In Telangana, Manthani and Bhupalpalle in Karimnagar and Warangal districts respectively received up to 5 cm rainfall.
The weatherman has predicted moderate to rather heavy rain or thundershowers at many places in Andhra Pradesh and light to moderate rain or thundershowers at a few places in Telangana over the next 24 hours.
Isolated heavy rain may occur in Nellore, Prakasam, Chittoor, Kadapa and Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh State till Wednesday.
In Hyderabad, it will be generally cloudy with chances of rain or thundershowers. Maximum and minimum temperatures may be around 34 and 24 degree Celsius respectively, the Met department said.
