Telangana MPs seek President's intervention HYDERABAD: Eleven Telangana Rashtra Samiti and three Telangana Congress MPs have urged President Pranab Mukherjee to withdraw the ordinance on transferring villages in seven mandals in Khammam district to Andhra Pradesh.
After registering their protest in Parliament against introduction of a bill to amend the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014, the MPs called on the President and explained to him how the issuance of ordinance violated the Constitution.
'Transferring a part of Khammam district in Telangana to Andhra Pradesh is nothing but changing the boundaries of a state,' they said and wanted the President's intervention.
The delegation, which was led by TRS MP K Kesahva Rao, also brought to Mukherjee's notice the Centre's move to invest the governor with powers of policing in Hyderabad which is nothing but usurping the powers of a democratically-elected state government.
