Mission to drive AP on growth path HYDERABAD: In order to place Andhra Pradesh in the category of top three states of the country by 2029, the AP government has decided to create seven special missions for the comprehensive growth of the state.
Information Technology Minister Palle Raghunath Reddy said the Cabinet had taken a decision to create seven missions: social sector mission, primary mission, skill development mission, infrastructure mission, industry mission, service sector mission and urban development mission.
Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu would be heading all the missions. 'Our aim is to place AP among the top three states in the country by 2029. For this, a comprehensive plan and strategies would be prepared, which would be implemented meticulously,' the minister said.
He said a floating Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) import terminal would be set up off the coast of Kakinada by Shell, APGTC and GAIL. 'The state is expected to get a revenue of `1,700 crore from this project and it would create about 2,000 jobs,' he explained.
Solar Parks
The minister said the Cabinet had decided to set up Solar Parks at Kadari in Anantapur district and Guntur. 'Power would be supplied at `5.50 per unit from these parks,' he said.
Under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission, about 500 mw power would be produced in the state. He said that the state would provide 24 hours power to domestic and industrial consumers from October 2.
Andhra Pradesh has been choosen, along with Rajasthan and Delhi states, for the NDA government's ambitious programme to provide 24-hour power supply and through this scheme the state would get uninterrupted power supply, he said.
He said farmers would also be provided 7 to 9 hours of uninterrupted power supply from October 2. 'To overcome the shortages of power in the state, about 2,000 mw more would be generated in a year's time,' he said. He said all the damaged pumpsets of the farmers would be replaced free of cost under the Central scheme.
Oil Seeds Centre
The minister said an oil seeds research centre would be set up in Anantapur for the benefit of the farmers of the state. The Cabinet has decided to provided 100 percent subsidy to SC/ST farmers, 90 percent to small and marginal farmers and 70 percent to big farmers on drip irrigation equipment in Anantapur and upland farmers of West Godavari district.
He said the Cabinet has cleared the file increasing the age limit of aided teachers from 58 years to 60. The IT minister said his government was making efforts to take back lands allotted to companies but had not been utilised. According to an estimate, about 70,000 acres of such land is available in the state, he said.
