Google decides to step on AP soil Hyderabad, July 11: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has got a name across the nation for his visionary efforts as hi-tech CM. Naidu styled himself tje 'CEO of Andhra Pradesh' during his chief ministership of undivided Andhra Pradesh between 1995 and 2004. He was hailed as a business-friendly leader who helped establish Hyderabad as one of India's technology hubs.
Naidu is pulling all stops to develop residuary Andhra Pradesh and making all out efforts to turn AP into software hub. Recently Naidu spoke to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and urged him to hoist the Microsoft flag in Andhra Pradesh, assuring him of all the help he needs.
Naidu succeeded in pleasing one more technology giant, Google. He announced via Twitter that Google MD has met him and offered to set up a new Development center in AP. He posted, "Google MD met me today. Offered to set up Dev Centre in AP. Promised to work with DWCRA & other groups. Towards digital AP!".
However, location details are kept secret for now. It is heard that Naidu wants Google to work with Dwacra and other groups towards building digital AP. There is a high possibility that Google may choose between Vizag and Vijayawada to set up their office.
Google currently operates from 4 cities in India, they are Google Bangalore, Google Gurgaon, Google Hyderabad, and Google Mumbai. This will be 3rd center for Google in Southern India.
Sources close to Mr Naidu said the Chief Minister has big plans to involve the IT professionals in development of Seemandhra. He has given the task of preparing a road map for development of software, hardware, ITs and industrial promotion in residuary AP to senior IAS officers. The state government proposes to give land, uninterrupted power supply and water to the IT, pharma and industrial sector.
During the year 2013-14, IT exports from Hyderabad were pegged at Rs 57,000 crore and the rest of the AP is just about 2500 Crores. Chandra Babu government wants to touch 10000 crore in the next one year and to touch 30000 Crores by the end of this tenure. Naidu will come out with a policy friendly to IT, pharma and other industries very shortly.Lets see how his efforts will paid off. For Now Google is conformed for AP.
