N Convention Center pulls down structures on its own Hyderabad: In an unexpected development, the management of N-Convention Centre allegedly demolished the structures that were constructed on encroached lands of 'controversial' Gurukul (Ghatkesar) Trust land.
The structures that were demolished fell under the Full Tank Level (FTL) and buffer zone of Tammidikunta lake. A senior official said that the centre voluntarily demolished the constructions without any intervention of government authorities.
'The centre had encroached over three acres of the land belonging to the lake and constructed various structures,' said the official. He further added that the management did not share any details of the structures demolished by them.
The N-Convention Center is purportedly owned by film actor Akkineni Nagarjuna who is also the owner of Annapurna Studio. Following the government survey, the management of the centre pleaded the High Court to stop the government authorities from taking any action against the centre without giving prior notice.
Considering the arguments of both the parties, the High Court had issued orders directing the GHMC to give prior notice to the centre before initiating any steps against it.
Meanwhile, the special teams constituted by the GHMC authorities continued the survey launched on the Gurukul Trust lands on Saturday to identify the number of unauthorised constructions. They identified about 800 unauthorised constructions. The removal drive is likely to continue for the next couple of days.
