Rangam predicts bountiful rain for Telangana HYDERABAD: The state will receive bountiful rain this year, Oracle teller Swarnalatha said. The Oracle was speaking at the Rangam programme which was organised as a part of the Ashada Jatara Bonalu festival at the famous Sri Ujjaini Mahakali Temple in Secunderabad. The programme takes place at the temple as a part of the Lashkar Bonalu, an important festival in Telangana.
Standing atop a clay pot, Swarnalatha answered questioned posed to her by devotees and temple staff. 'The Goddess would take care of people's well being and see that they live a happy and untroubled life,' she said.
The Oracle teller expressed unhappiness over the developmental works and stated that the works were taking place without her knowledge. 'People to take my suggestions for such works in the future to avoid problems,' Swarnalatha said.
She expressed satisfaction with the temple authorities for the arrangements put in place for the festival and predicted that the fete will draw more devotees in the years to come.
When asked about the unfortunate Himachal tragedy, where 24 engineering students were washed away in the Beas river, Swarnalatha said all humans are mortal and they would have to leave the earth once their time was up.
On the price rise, creating havoc among the poor and middle class, the Oracle replied that people will have to face the consequences of their deeds. 'It will not be possible for anyone to lead a hassle-free life if their deeds and thoughts do not match,' Swarnalatha said.
After the Rangam programme, the presiding deity was taken out in a colourful procession on a caparisoned elephant. The procession, which began at the temple, passed through General Bazar, RP Road and other adjoining areas before culminating at Mettuguda.
'Potharajus' and 'Ghatams' along with Mahankali tunes reverberated in the lanes and bylanes of Secunderabad. The Potharajus, while leading the procession, flogged themselves. Large number of pilgrims arrived in Secunderabad and offered prayers to Goddess Mahakali.
