GHMC to continue with demolition drive HYDERABAD: After demolishing unauthorised under-construction structures in Gurukul Trust Lands a few day ago, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will start demolishing unauthorised under- construction buildings in the city from Tuesday.
Toward this, the GHMC commissioner Somesh Kumar, held a review meeting with assistant city planners (ACPs) of all 18 circles of the GHMC. He instructed them to take necessary action on the major unauthorised constructions that have been identified for demolition.
At present, as many as 890 unauthorised constructions have been identified by the ACPs of 18 circles. In case where notices have been issued, the ACPs have been instructed to take necessary action for demolition of the structures in a phased manner.
In the event, where no notices have been issued, ACPs should issue show cause notices. When it comes to the encroachments of roads and parking violations, the town planning officials have been instructed to take action immediately as per the laid down procedures.
The commissioner said that most of the people knowingly purchase unauthorised constructions which don't have building permission and the GHMC is committed to demolish all such unauthorised constructions. He cautioned citizens to be careful while purchasing flats or houses and check for proper building permissions from GHMC.
He added that citizens can apply for building permission which will be sanctioned by the GHMC at the earliest.
GHMC will not only take action against the unauthorised constructions but also against the erring Town Planning officers. With regard to BPL applications, over 2.5 lakhs applications have been received, out of which most of the applications have been cleared.
As far as N-Convention Centre is concerned, GHMC is waiting for orders from the High Court and will initiate action accordingly.
