SC asks AP to file implead petition in EAMCET case HYDERABAD: The Supreme Court adjourned the case related to Eamcet admissions to July 21. The court was responding to the petition of the Telangana government, which requested to postpone Eamcet admissions till October 31.
The apex court also asked Andhra Pradesh government to file implead petition in this case and said that it will take a decision only after hearing the Andhra Pradesh government's argument.
A two-member bench directed the counsel appearing for the Telangana government to serve a copy to the AP government to enable it to place its stance before the court.
Citing staff crunch as the main reason to complete the admission process before August 1 as directed by the Apex Court, the Telangana government urged it to extend the date for completion of Eamcet admissions.
Earlier, the court had directed the government to complete the Eamcet admission process by August 1.
The counsel submitted that in view of the bifurcation, the government has been facing staff crunch and the cadre allocation was not done and as such there is lot of requirement of AIS officers.
At present, only 70 All India Service officers are working as against an estimated requirement of about 320 IAS, IPS and IFS officers. Each of them holding more than two to three subjects and it was becoming difficult to work with shortage of officers and fee reimbursement being a huge subject, the cut off date for admission process need to be extended till Oct 31.
The bench pointed out that the examination was conducted by considering the erstwhile state as a single unit and without hearing the version of AP, passing the orders may have adverse effect on other students.
