Kishan flays Naidu, KCR over stalemate on fee reimbursement HYDERABAD: Accusing Telangana and Andhra Pradesh governments of putting at stake the future of 14 lakh students to settle political scores, Telangana BJP chief G Kishan Reddy called upon both Chief Ministers to sit together and resolve the issue of fee reimbursement at the earliest.
Speaking to reporters at the party state office here, Kishan Reddy said that Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was unnecessarily politicising the issue of fee reimbursement and playing with the lives of students.
'According to government records, about 14 lakh students are waiting for Eamcet counselling and among them about 40,000 are from Seemandhra. This means that due to the adamant attitude of the TRS government 13.60 lakh students belonging to Telangana would lose one academic year,' he pointed out.
He said with the Telangana government not clearing the fee reimbursement backlogs of `1,250 crore the colleges were not issuing certificates to students jeopardising their chances of higher studies.
He said the TRS government was ready to provide 12 per cent reservation to Muslims in education and jobs but was not ready to bear the fee reimbursement of Seemandhra students which is unfortunate.
Kishan Reddy said the decision of the TRS government to fix 1956 as the cut-off year for nativity was not practical. 'The decision would harm the Telangana students more than the Seemandhra students as it will be difficult to get the proof of nativity for the people of Telangana who were born before 1956.
