Triple tragedy strikes family
Guntur: A triple tragedy struck a family of Inavolu village in Nujandla mandal when a pregnant woman died on Saturday, following alleged negligence by a doctor at the government hospital in Vinukonda.
After her funeral, her father died, as also the newborn. The family members of Nagalaxmi, who was recently married, protested before the hospital alleging that doctor's negligence had caused her death. She was hospitalised after experiencing labour pains. Dr Padmaja, who expected a normal delivery, allegedly entrusted the task to staff nurses.
After Nagalaxmi bled heavily during a normal delivery, her condition became serious. She was shifted to a hospital in Narasaraopet and later to Guntur. However, she died on the way to Guntur.
After her funeral, her father Kotaiah died of shock. The newborn too died. This enraged the family members. The hospital management blamed the media for needlessly creating a row.
