BJP demands official celebration of Hyd Liberation Day Hyderabad, July 21 (INN): Former union minister and BJP senior leader Ch Vidyasagar Rao on Monday demanded that the Telangana Government celebration the Hyderabad Liberation Day on September 17 as State function.
Speaking to media persons here, Vidyasagar Rao said that the Hyderabad Liberation Day is the State function in four districts of Karnataka and eight districts of Maharashtra which were part of erstwhile Hyderabad State.
Therefore, he said that the TRS Government should celebrate the liberation of Hyderabad from the oppression of Nizam's Rule at a grand scale. He said that the event should be celebrated with Chief Minister K Chandraskhar Rao himself hoisting the national flag.
Vidyasagar Rao said that the Muslim freedom fighters have played a major role in the war of independence against Nizams. He demanded that the State Government construct memorials for freedom fighters like Shoaibullah Khan, who fought against the atrocities of Nizams.
He also clarified that the BJP was against giving reservation on the basis of religion. However, he said that the BJP was not against reservation for economically and socially backward Muslims. He also demanded an all-party meeting on the recent demolitions carried out by the GHMC.
