KTR vows to make Hyderabad safest city HYDERABAD: Stating that non-locals should not worry about their safety in Telangana, information technology minister KT Rama Rao said the apprehensions of people regarding their safety will be a thing of the past soon as his government was working towards making Hyderabad the safest destination in the country.
The IT minister also expressed hope that chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and his Andhra Pradesh counterpart N Chandrababu Naidu will soon sort out their differences and work together for the development of their respective states.
Speaking at an interactive programme 'Vision for Telangana' here on Tuesday, KTR said that all the apprehensions about the functioning of the TRS government will be put to rest in a few days.
'We want Hyderabad to be the safest place in the country,' he said. There are bound to be differences whenever there is bifurcation hence we should not worry about it and maintain peace, the minister said and added 'We are seeing passing clouds and they will not remain for long. We want a cordial relationship with all our neighbouring states.'
On the fee reimbursement issue, KTR said all the problems surrounding the scheme were politically motivated and were intended to defame the TRS government.
'The scheme is a big scam which was beneficial to fake engineering colleges. The students never got the desired benefits. Our government has abolished the scheme and started a new Financial Assitance for Students of Telangana (FAST) scheme,' he said.
Elaborating his government's vision for Telangana, KTR said they were planning to make the state power surplus in the next five years and added that the government has directed Telangana Genco to generate 8,000 mw of power.
'The state will get another 4,000 mw from the NTPC plant in Ramagundam as promised by the Centre. Apart from this, the government is setting up a solar power plant in Mahbubnagar,' the IT minister said.
We are looking at a smart, safe and slum-free Hyderabad, KTR said and added that his government was prioritising women safety. 'The police has been given a 10-minute response time to reach the incident spot when women are involved,' he said.
166 FoBs in 6 months
In order to increase safety of pedestrians, as many as 166 foot-over-bridges will be constructed in Hyderabad in the next six months. Keeping the issue of increased traffic in mind, the government is according top priority to traffic management, the IT minister said and added that global traffic experts are already being consulted on the issue.
Task to Hone Skills of Grads
A Telangana Academy of Skill and Knowledge (Task) will soon be set up, with the help of IT companies, to enhance skills of engineering graduates during their course period. IT companies will be requested to impart employable skills by selecting some students as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). 'The government is also planning to set up topgrade incubation centres by the year-end, he said.
