Panel report on AP capital in 10 days
HYDERABAD: Sivaramakrishnan committee, appointed to locate the new capital of Andhra Pradesh, will prepare its draft report in the coming 10 days. After that, the committee will submit its report to the Centre by August 20.
This was disclosed to the AP Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana by the Sivaramakrishnan panel, when the Minister had called on the members at Delhi. Narayana, who is heading the nine-member panel to advise the AP government on how to design the new capital had a lengthy meeting with the Sivaramakrishnan committee during his Thursday's interaction with the panel.
During the meeting, which was also attended by State government's special representative in Delhi Kambhampati Ramamohana Rao, Narayana is learnt to have categorically told the panel that the State government wants to locate the new capital in between Krishna and Guntur districts only.
He is understood to have submitted the details about the availability of government lands in these two districts to set up the capital to the committee members.
Strengthening this argument Narayana told reporters that the location of the new capital would be decided by taking two key parameters into consideration. Those two parameters are 'equal justice' and 'equal distance'.
By making this Statement the minister more or less made it clear that the new capital would be coming up nearer to Vijayawada-Guntur stretch, which is centrally located in AP.
'There are vast stretches of forest lands in Krishna and Guntur. We want to set up the capital at a centrally located place so as to give equal access to people of all districts in the State to it,' he said.
He added that it would be useful on the part of administrative convenience if the new capital is set up at a centrally located place only.
Narayan disclosed that the State government had decided to set up the 11 national-level institutions, which the Centre had promised to the State in the AP Reorganisation Act, in 11 districts across the State.
