Naidu's hurry on Eamcet, only to save bogus colleges
HYDERABAD: Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao alleged that AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu's efforts to conduct the EAMCET counselling amounts to supporting 'bogus engineering' colleges. Naidu's intention was to render injustice to Telangana students even after the division of the state, Harish Rao alleged.
Responding to the engineering counselling dates announced on Wednesday, Rao told reporters at Secretariat on Thursday that the Telangana engineering students should not worry.
'We have faith that the SC will give a judgement, which will help Telangana students. A case on engineering counselling is in SC and it will come up for hearing on August 4,' Harish Rao said.
He added that the Telangana government's intention was to weed out bogus engineering colleges and improve quality of education in engineering stream.
'The Telangana government is making efforts in that direction. Several students after completing engineering could not find jobs. We want to improve the standards so that the students will get campus selections,' Harish Rao said.
Harish Rao also blamed Naidu for demanding the Telangana government to reimburse fee for the AP students settled in Telangana. 'Every state government has the right to decide the nativity issue. The past judgements of Supreme Court stated this. Even Naidu decided the nativity of tribals for recruiting teachers in tribal areas,' Harish Rao recalled.
'It is unfair on part of Naidu to request the Telangana government to pay the fee of AP students settled in Telangana.' He said that if the fee of AP students in Telangana was reimbursed by the AP government then Telangana government would save much money.
'We may use the money saved to pay extra amount to Telangana students or give laptops or construct irrigation projects for the use of Telangana farmers. Telangana is a newly-created state and the people have so many aspirations. We have to fulfil them. We cannot reimburse the fee of AP students settled in Telangana,' Harish Rao said.
