AP doctors asked to leave at Gandhi hospital Hyderabad: All in-patient and out-patient services were affected for over an hour at Gandhi Hospital as working doctors of Telangana and Seemandhra regions shouted slogans against each other in front of the administrative block.
The issue started with a letter allegedly pasted by the Telangana Government Doctors Association (TGGDA) on the hospital premises asking Andhra doctors to go back to their native places.
Agitated over the letter, Andhra doctors staged a dharna on the hospital premises, alleging that they were repeatedly manhandled by their Telangana counterparts.
In the meantime, employees and doctors from Telangana also staged a counter dharna demanding immediate transfer of all Andhra doctors. Both the groups nearly came to blows, but were pacified by the Gandhi superintendent. Dr Ramesh of the TGGDA alleged that 60 per cent of the 300 officials who were working in Gandhi Hospital were from Seemandhra.
He alleged that the Seemandhra doctors were indulging in propaganda to mislead people and create tension on the premises. The TS doctors also lodged a complaint at the Chilkalguda Police Station accusing some doctors of vitiating the atmosphere in the hospital.
