Kishan Reddy flays KCR on I-Day at Golconda HYDERABAD: Taking objection to Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's decision to celebrate Independence Day at historical Golkonda Fort instead of Secunderabad Parade Grounds, BJP Telangana chief G Kishan Reddy said that KCR instead of organising Independence Day at Golkonda Fort should celebrate 'Hyderabad Liberation Day' on September 17 as the state got independence on that particular day.
Speaking to reporters at the party's state office here, Kishan Reddy asked KCR to clarify as to why he wanted to hoist national flag on Independence day at Golconda Fort, which was once known as a centre for oppression and dictatorship during erstwhile rulers.
'I do not know what made KCR to change the venue of Independence day celebration from Secunderabad Parade Grounds to Golkonda Fort. The Chief Minister should explain to the people of the state,' he said.
He said that Golkonda Fort is an appropriate venue for the celebration of Hyderabad Liberation Day as the state was freed from the cruel rule of the erstwhile Nizam.
He demanded the government to officially celebrate Hyderabad Liberation Day on September 17.
He said that party president Amit Shah will be arriving in the city on a two-day visit on August 21. He would meet the office-bearers of the state unit on the same day and on the following day, he would address a meeting of district party presidents, he added.
Alleging that KCR has miserably failed to solve the problems of farmers, Kishan Reddy termed the lathicharge on agitating farmers in Medak unjustified as they were only protesting against irregular supply of electricity. He also demanded that the government withdraw cases filed against the farmers and students.
Coming down heavily on TRS government, the BJP state chief said that the state government was giving importance to things which are not of urgency and over looking issues such as power supply, agriculture, drinking water, drought and student's admissions.
