Participation in Survey must, says KCR NIZAMABAD: Emphasising the importance of the Intensive Household Survey (IHS) across Telangana on August 19, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao made it clear that those who fail to participate in the survey will not feature in the government's list /record, which will form the basis for welfare schemes and developmental work.
Stating this at a review meeting with officials of various departments in Nizamabad on Thursday, he added that correct data was required for effective implementation of the schemes and lack of such data had resulted in several irregularities in schemes initiated till date.
'We do not want it to happen again and to ensure that everyone who benefits from the government scheme is accounted for, we are conducting the IHS onAugust 19,' he explained.
Pointing out at the mismatch in the statistics of white ration card-holders and the population, he said that by addressing the irregularities that had taken place in the issue of white ration cards alone, three to four welfare schemes could be funded.
Rao wanted a change in the way welfare schemes were being implemented. 'Things should change. Sitting in Hyderabad and deciding on development of other districts should no longer be the case,' he said.
KCR said he would personally take up comprehensive development of Karimagar, Warangal, Khammam and Nizamabad towns. He wanted the officials to give opportunities to all contractors for all tenders instead of segregating contractors departmentwise.
He asked the officials to draft the plans for plantation drives for June 2015 and June 2016. He stressed the need for construction of ring roads in all major cities and towns in the state.
He asked the officials to take necessary measures to develop children's parks, burial grounds, vegetable and meat markets, memorial parks and dumpyards in all the municipalities, while emphasising the need for making Telangana slum-free.
On the criticism that even after two months of his government assuming power, it had not implemented any developmental programme(s), he accepted the same and explained that it did not want to take any hasty decision(s).
'Whatever has to be done, should be in a planned manner, keeping in view the resources and the requirements. Ours is a new state and it requires funds, which I have sought from the Centre,' he said.
Admitting that there was shortage of employees in various departments, the CM said that the existing employees too were now worried over the employees' division between the two states and were thus not able to properly focus on their work. He said that his government would be employee-friendly.
