Danam dismisses reports of quitting Congress Hyderabad, Aug 8 (INN): Former minister and Greater Hyderabad Congress Committee president Danam Nagendar on Friday dismissed the reports of him leaving the Congress party to join Telugu Desam.
Speaking to media persons here, Danam described the reports as baseless and far from truth. He said he had no plans to join the TDP. Stating that he had joined the TDP during 2004 elections, he said he re-joined the Congress party as he was unable to adjust himself in TDP.
He said he was never hungry for power as he considers both victory and defeat as inevitable in politics. Therefore, his defeat in recent elections from Khairtabad constituency would not prompt him to leave Congress.
Danam hoped that the Congress party would show an impressive performance in the forthcoming GHMC elections. He refused to comment when asked about party's possible alliance with the MIM.
However, he said that the TRS would not be a major power in GHMC elections. He also predicted that the TRS would lose its strength across Telangana if Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao fails to implement the promise that he made with the people.
