Realise the power of 'Punch': Naidu
VISAKHAPATNAM: Chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has suggested to TDP leaders, including ministers, to develop communication skills to convey information to the people in an effective way. The public would receive the speech well only if it has a punch laced with political overtones or any other interesting angle to it, he said.
The district administration has invited some farmers to explain the problems faced in the cultivation of various crops. Responding to this, a farmer from Chodavaram - Sai Raghunath - tried to explain his views and make suggestions but struggled to find expression. As the gathering started jeering, minister for agriculture P Pulla Rao and other officials tried to help him but in vain. Finally, the officials asked him vacate the podium.
Observing Sai Raghunath's predicament, Naidu asked him several questions and obtained the right answers from him.
Another farmer Sitaram praised Naidu in a rhetorical speech and explained how he had benefited by following the suggestions made by the officials to take up oil-palm cultivation. The gathering cheered him.
Referring to these two examples, Naidu said that Sai Raghunath explained only the subject without adding 'masala' but Sitaram added 'masala' and some political stuff in good measure to make his address quite interesting. 'The leaders and the ministers on the dais should start focusing on communicative skills,' Naidu said.
As many as five farmers spoke about their problems but the CM failed to respond to them. A youngster Amarender, who returned from London after completing his B.Tech, said that he had started a dairy with five animals in 2012 and now it had developed into bigger unit with 30 animals. However, Amarender said that he was not receiving remunerative prices for milk and requested the CM to announce support price for milk. Naidu had no answer even to this.
