Jubilee Hills check-post to get flyover soon HYDERABAD: The busy Jubilee Hills check-post will soon have a grade separator (flyover) for hassle-free movement of traffic at the crammed junction.
The proposed flyover will be constructed from Jubilee Hills check-post (Road no 1 Banjara Hills towards Road no 36 in Jubilee Hills) at an estimated cost of `16.2 crore.
The standing committee of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), which met a few days ago, approved the proposal on the issue. The project will be taken up in coordination with the Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR).
The approved proposals will be tabled in the next general body meeting of the corporation. The proposal will be forwarded to the state government, for administrative sanctions, only after it gets a go ahead from the general body.
Once government orders are issued, the corporation will invite tenders for the construction of the flyover, GHMC officials told. It may be recalled that the traffic department had recommended the GHMC to construct a flyover at the 4-way junction as it had reached its saturation point and was being crammed with a large number of vehicles all the time.
Throwing light on the salient features of the project, the officials said that the flyover will be four-lane, 359 metre long structure and will have a width of 17.5 metres.
The GHMC's share of expenditure will be met by the Head of Account under the 'Conservation and improvement of flyovers for 2014-15. The project's feasibility report has been forwarded to the Hyderabad Metro Rail officials for scrutiny by L&T officials. The alignment of the Metro will be changed to accommodate the proposed flyover.
