KCR unveils Telangana Police logo Hyderabad, Aug 12 (INN): Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday launched the logo of the Telangana State Police.
The function was attended by Home Minister Nayani Narsimha Reddy, Chief Secretary Dr. Rajeev Sharma, Principal Secretary Home and other senior police officers of Telangana State.
Upon formation of Telangana state, the Telangana State Police received several artistic submissions of logo design from enthusiastic citizens. The arduous and challenging task of sifting through the numerous, beautiful and meaningful logo designs were taken up jointly by several senior officials of Telangana State Police (TSP) and team from Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI).
The Chief Minister was himself deeply involved in the process and went through two rounds of evaluation before finalizing the logo. The process that was followed to form the basis for sifting, identifying the artist to develop the logo and working with the artist is detailed below.
The first step taken was to develop the core values that the police force stands for and wants its personnel to imbibe. Team of senior police officials headed by DGP Anurag Sharma and CPs of Hyderabad and Cyberabad ' P Mahender Reddy and CV Anand respectively, along with the team from ASCI held several rounds of interactions to identify 25-30 aspects that the police force wants its personnel to imbibe and exude.
These were then condensed by bringing together the correlated aspects reflecting similar value to arrive at an initial 6 values of Honour, Duty, Courage, Alertness, Firmness, and Compassion. These were further condensed to the final three core values of 'Honour, Duty and Compassion'.
The next step was to identify and/or build all the possible symbols and colors that would reflect the identified core values. This was followed by sifting through all the logos submitted voluntarily by citizens and artistes to the police department since the formation of the state.
After going through hundreds of logo designs submitted, 15 designs were shortlisted. Chief Minister himself participated in the process by going through the 15 shortlisted logo designs and gave his valuable inputs.
The design by Laxman Aelay, a renowned artist from Telangana, was found to be representing what the team wanted to convey through its proposed logo. The team at ASCI then briefed Aelay and worked with him closely to develop several options to arrive at final 3 designs from which the final design was selected.
