Security cover for 180 leaders taken off HYDERABAD: In a major revamp of security, as many as 180 politicians, including ex-MLAs and ex-MPs of both states, were stripped off their State-provided security cover in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Thirty eight persons have been considered for scaled-down security while around 300 others have retained their earlier sanctioned security. The notices are being issued to the Commissioners of Police and Superintendents of Police.
Mahesh Muralidhar Bhagwat, Inspector General, Security, Intelligence, Telangana, said with the decision, more than 500 armed personnel will rejoin their respective wings.
He pointed out that though minor review meetings were conducted before elections and after Sstate bifurcation, the latest review meeting was the first major one since May 2013.
