BEL seeks land in Anantapuram to set up its facility Hyderabad, Aug 13 (INN): A team of executives from Bharat Electricals Limited (BEL) met Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and discussed about the company's plans to set up a new plant in the state.
The team led by HR director ML Shanmugan and BEL General Manager (engineering services) G. Arunachalam informed the Chief Minister that they want to set up a facility in Anantapur district for which the company would need 1,000 acres of land. The BEL team requested the government to help the company scout for land to set up the Rs 1,500-crore unit that will provide 500 jobs to locals.
The team of officials informed the Chief Minister that the Anantapur facility would make it easy for the company as their headquarters is located in Bangalore. The BEL unit would pave way for automobile and transport industries in the region, they said.
The Chief Minister was also requested to provide 500 acres of land for the expansion of BEL's existing facility in Machilipatnam. The facility currently produces 30,000 war goggles, the officials said, adding that they would like to enhance the capacity to 2.5 lakh as part of their expansion plans. He assured that the state government would look into their requests and help them in searching for land for the company's facility.
