Padmashree for Mithali Raj Hyderabad: Indian women's captain Mithali Raj from the city, who is in Wormsley, Buckinghamshire, leading the Indian side in a Test match against hosts, has been recommended for the Padma Shree award by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) along with Virat Kohli.
Indian men's captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been recommended for the coveted Padma Bhushan award, the third highest civilian honour of the country.
Mithali Raj is the most successful Indian women's cricketer. The 32-year-old Hyderabadi held the record for the highest individual scorer in Test till 2004 with 214 runs surpassing Karen Rolton's 209 runs.
