Naidu's move on adhoc capital flayed VIJAYAWADA: APCC president N Raghuveera Reddy has rapped chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu for declaring Vijayawada city, as the 'temporary capital' for truncated Andhra Pradesh, and stressed the need to arrive at consensus on the 'contentious' issue.
Addressing a press conference after unfurling the national flag to mark 68th Independence Day celebrations on the premises of Andhra Ratna Bahvan here Friday, Raghuveera asked Chandrababu why he was in such a haste in announcing Vijayawada as the makeshift capital city for the state.
'The AP Reorganisation Act has provided Hyderabad as a temporary capital and the state government can use it for ten years. The Sivaramakrishnan committee is yet to submit its report.
He (Chandrababu Naidu) is confusing people on the capital issue,' he wondered and also alleged that the decision to accord temporary capital status by the government seems to be aimed at influencing the Central committee on capital city.
He also said that there is a need for conducting an all-party meeting for discussion before zeroing in on the location for capital in the state.
The APCC chief criticised the CM's move on laying conditions for implementation of the loan waiver scheme.
'The Telugu Desam party chief had promised unconditional loan waiver during elections. The loan waiver was promised for the farmers, weavers and the self-help group women,' he said and wondered why the TDP chief was diluting the promise he made after winning the elections.
Stating that farmers are receiving notices from the banks and banks are also putting gold for auction without taking into consideration the government's assurance on loan waiver, he demanded that the chief minister tell the banks to stop serving notices on the farmers and the SHG women.
Former Union ministers K Chiranjeevi and JD Seelam, Rajya Sabha member KVP Ramachandra Rao were also present during.
