Tangirala's daughter to be TD candidate for Nandigama VIJAYAWADA: Tangirala Soumya, daughter of late Tangirala Prabhakara Rao, has been unanimously selected by TDP Nandigama constituency leaders as MLA contestant for the by-elections that are scheduled for September 13.
Speaking at Nandigama constituency TDP meeting at Nandigama Sunday, Irrigation minister and Krishna district party president Devineni Umamaheswara Rao said, 'We have unanimously decided at the meeting to select T Soumya as the candidate. The decision would be conveyed to chief minister Chandrababu Naidu who will make an official announcement in this regard.'
It may be recalled here that Nandigama Assembly seat fell vacant upon Tangirala Prabhakara Rao's demise in June.
Soumya, a software engineer, also campaigned for her father in the general state elections and has been actively participating in party activities and taking care of the constituency after her father's death.
Umamaheswara Rao urged all parties to support Soumya for her unanimous election. He pointed that it had been a tradition to unanimously elect the candidate if the contestant is a family member of the deceased.
