TS Govt goes for best practices in key areas

HYDERABAD: After a single window for industries like in Singapore, police dress code like the one being implemented by UN Police and Panchayat Raj decentralisation taking a cue from Kerala, now a better traffic system for Hyderabad will be developed on the lines of Mumbai.

Home Minister Narasimha Reddy and Transport Minister P Mahender Reddy, along with RTC top officials, GHMC Commissioner and others, reached Mumbai on Thursday.

They will tour various places in the city and observe the traffic system. After their return, the team will submit a report to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who will fine-tune it and implement very shortly.

As Telangana is a new State and wanting to redefine development, the State government is searching for the best in various fields.

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has announced that a single window will be introduced for industries. He is currently touring Singapore to study the world's the best single window system.

'The single window of Telangana will be better than that of Singapore,' the Chief Minister told reporters recently.

The Telangana State government had already implemented a new logo for the TS Police. The dress code, logos and brand new vehicles with latest technology are decided after drawing an inspiration from the United Nations Police.

Panchayat Raj Minister KT Rama Rao has directed top officials of his department to go and study the e-panchayats and decentralisation of administration in Kerala. The same will be implemented in Telangana.

In transport and traffic system, the Telangana government is likely to adapt the Mumbai model. The team of ministers and officials will spend two days in the financial capital of the country.

On Thursday, Narasimha Reddy and Mahender Reddy visited a city bus stop and observed how people are following the queue system to board buses. In Maharashtra, people follow queue lines with utmost discipline, without the presence of police or transport department staff, the team noted.

The State government is also planning to improve local transport in Hyderabad and run special buses for women employees working in the Information Technology (IT) sector.

The State is also contemplating to provide security to women IT employees to see that there will be no threat to them when they are returning homes in late hours.

The State government is also contemplating to streamline local cabs. Now, cabs being run by different operators have different colours.

Telangana State is planning to direct the cabs to have a uniform colour for all taxis, so that the private taxis will be easily identified and crime rate reduced. However, any key decision on traffic or transportation will be taken by KCR.
