Reach out to people, Amit Shah to BJP cadre HYDERABAD: Making his intention clear that he wants results, BJP president Amit Shah called upon his party cadres to spread the party to every nook and corner of Telangana to bring BJP to power in the new state by 2019.
Speaking at a convention of village unit presidents of the party in Telangana, held here on Friday, the BJP chief asked the party workers to strengthen the party at the booth level and reach out to people.
'We should see that our party has representation in each and every booth in the state,' he said. Noting that people from different sections of the society are looking up at the BJP and Modi's leadership, he exhorted the partymen to reach out to the people and expand the party up to the booth level.
Shah expressed confidence that the party would come to power in Telangana in 2019 elections if the party activists and leaders worked hard for strengthening the organisation in the state.
''In 2014 polls the party got 23 percent vote in Telangana. If we work hard we could get more votes and come to power in 2019,'' he said.
He said from November 1, party's primary membership drive would begin and the party workers should see that the party gets maximum numbers of members from each and every booth of the state.
'Spread out to each and every village of the state and attract maximum number of people towards the party,'' he remarked.
The BJP chief said the Centre would extend its full cooperation to the state government and see that it gets all the benefits of the Central schemes.
'BJP workers should see that the programmes of the Centre reach every nook and corner of the state,'' he said. Shah asked the BJP leaders to make Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call of 'Congress-free India' a reality by bringing BJP to power in southern and northeastern states.
Coming down heavily on the Congress, the BJP boss charged the then Congress-led UPA of leaving scams and corruption as legacy to the NDA government.
Turning his focus on farmers, he tried to impress the gathering by criticising Congress for signing World Trade Organisation's Trade Facilitation Agreement.
NDA government did not agree to sign it keeping the farmers' interests in mind as the same would have restricted the government from giving minimum support prices to the tillers, he said.
Claiming that BJP had consistently stood for the separate Telangana cause since 1998, BJP boss Amit Shah blamed Congress of sowing seeds of enmity between people of AP and Telangana. He urged the BJP's Telangana cadre to take up the responsibility of normalising the relations between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
