AP to set up four bio-fertilizer units
Hyderabad, Aug 23 (INN): Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary IYR Krishna Rao on Saturday said that four bio-fertilizer units would soon be established to tackle the fertilizer needs of the farmers of the 13 districts of the State.
Conducting a review on Bio-fertilizer sector with the with Prl. Secretary, Agriculture and Prl. Secretary, Marketing at the Secretariat, the Chief Secretary said that of the four units first one would be set up in north coastal Andhra, second unit in central coastal region (strengthening of the current unit functioning at Amaravathi in Guntur Dist), third unit for South Coastal Region and the last and fourth unit for Rayalaseema region.
He said for Rayalaseema, the unit with a capacity of 300 tones will be located at Anantapur by utilizing the RKVY Funds. For the South Coastal and North Coastal Area the concerned Agriculture University will come up with the proposal of sites for the bio-Fertilizer plants, he added.
The Chief Secretary further informed that the project will be sanctioned as part of the RKVY, except the manpower cost for which the expenditure may be booked from the Central Market Fund. The Chief Secretary instructed that the units to be made operational within three months period.
Rao also instructed the Commissioner, Agriculture to take immediate action for the functioning of one Vermi compose unit in each of the 40 vegetable and cattle markets in the state.
Rajeev Acharya, Prl.Secy (Marketing), AC Punetha, Prl.Secy (Agriculture), Dr A Padma Raju, VC, ANGRAU and concerned officials attended the meeting.
