Heavy rains forecast for Telangana Hyderabad: The Meteorological Department forecasted heavy rains for the next three days in Telangana State. According to Met officials, Mahabubnagar, Rangareddy, Medak, Nizamabad, Adilabad, Karimnagar, and Warangal would receive heavy downpour due to the well-marked low pressure area lies over Vidarbha, South Chhattisgarh and Telangana.
Meanwhile, the city witnessed heavy traffic jam at several junctions like Secunderabad, Begumpet, Jubilee Hills, Banjara Hills, Kukatpally, Koti, Basheerbagh, Nampally, Tarnaka and other places due to the incessant rains.
The motorists had a tough time in wading through the traffic and travelling on the pot-hole ridden roads. While Quthbullapur in Jeedimetla recorded the highest rainfall of 2.1 cm, Bahadurpura in Miralam recoded the lowest at 5 mm.
Meanwhile, Heavy rains in the catchment areas have brought good inflows into Himayatsagar reservoirs in the city. According to officials, the flood gates of Himayathsagar might be lifted on Monday if the flow continues as the tank reached the full level on Sunday.
Good inflows into the Himayatsagar reservoir saw the water levels rise to 1,752 feet, as against full level of 1,763 feet with an inflow of 11,656 cusecs. Notably, if the flow continues at the same rate, there would be a chance of releasing water by opening the gates of Himayatsagar on Monday afternoon, officials said.
