Jagga Reddy's back to home attempt foiled SANGAREDDY: Former legislator Turupu Jayaprakash Reddy alias Jagga Reddy is in a fix over whether to stay in the BJP or return to his former party Congress. Though he reportedly made some moves to join the party, some of the senior leaders have opposed his re-entry.
In the recent Medak Parliament byelections Jayaprakash Reddy contested as BJP - TDP candidate by leaving Congress on the last day of filing nominations. He got 50,000 votes in Sangareddy constituency alone in that election and proved that his vote bank was intact.
After defeat in elections he is maintaining safe distance from BJP which gave him Parliament ticket. He has not participated in Telangana liberation celebrations on September 17 organised by district BJP unit. He did not go to Maharashtra to campaign on behalf of BJP candidates during Assembly elections.
Close aides of Jagga Reddy would like him to rejoin Congress and that was the reason for his distance from BJP. Seeing his guts, craze in public and votes he got during Medak by-poll, former deputy chief minister Rajanarsimha accepted his proposal to come back and recommended to PCC chief Ponnala Laxmaiah and other state level leaders.
They also responded positively. But some important district Congress leaders including a former minister, an MLA, a former DCC president and others expressed their objections.
They described him as a political opportunist and allowing him to rejoin is unfair and undemocratic. They also advised the party top brass to look into his political track record before giving green signal.
Jagga Reddy was elected as an MLA first from Sangareddy Assembly constituency from TRS and after some time he differed with KCR and along with other 10 MLAs he joined Congress and became close to the then chief minister Rajasekhar Reddy.
