Sankar Foundation achieves historic milestone in eye care in 2025-26 Visakhapatnam: In a remarkable feat, Sankar Foundation has accomplished a record 35,171 eye surgeries and screened 2.2 lakh outpatients in the year 2025-26, marking a significant stride in its mission to eliminate avoidable blindness.
With this achievement, the Foundation has reached a historic milestone of 5,10,246 eye surgeries since its inception in 1997. The foundation's outreach efforts, supported by corporates, Public Sector Undertakings, and NGOs, have been instrumental in strengthening infrastructure and extending quality eye care to underserved communities.
Highlights of the Foundation's performance include:
- 35,171 eye surgeries performed
- 2,02,499 outpatients screened
- 601 Outreach Eye camps organised
- 43,930 outpatients screened through free eye camps
The Foundation's success is attributed to the unwavering commitment of its medical teams, trust and support of partners and beneficiaries, and the guidance of the Government of Andhra Pradesh and other stakeholders. A Special Retina Block has been constructed to serve patients under the Dr. NTR Vaidya Seva scheme, offering comprehensive solutions for retina disorders.
Sankar Foundation's branches in Srikakulam, Maddilapalem, Gajuwaka, and Madhurawada have delivered notable performance, underscoring the foundation's dedication to delivering quality eye care to the community.
