Eye screening camp at Tanam village in Anakapalle district evokes good response Visakhapatnam: Pfizer Healthcare India Pvt Ltd organized a comprehensive free eye screening camp at Tanam village in Parawada mandal of Anakapalle district on 26th June 2026 as part of its corporate social responsibility initiative. The camp was conducted in collaboration with Sankar Foundation Eye Hospital, Visakhapatnam, and received an overwhelming response from Tanam and surrounding villages.

Ravi Chander Katta, Site Head of Pfizer's unit, inaugurated the camp in the presence of senior Pfizer officials including Sri Ravi Kiran, HR Head; Sri Vijaya Mahajan, Manufacturing Head; Sri Arvind Jayaraman, EHS Head; Sri M.V. Rama Raju, Public Affairs and CSR Head; Sri Vijay Bhaskar, Supply Chain Head; Dr Eswara Rao; Sri N. Hanumantha Rao; Sri Nageswar Rao from the CSR team; and K. Bangar Raju, Deputy General Manager, PR, Liaison and Corporate Relations, Sankar Foundation.
Addressing the gathering, Ravi Chander Katta urged residents to make full use of the camp facilities and reiterated Pfizer's commitment to conducting similar outreach programmes in nearby villages to help eliminate avoidable blindness. He expressed satisfaction at partnering with Sankar Foundation and commended the hospital for its consistent delivery of quality and impact-driven eye care services. Pfizer officials who visited the camp facilities congratulated Sankar Foundation for the meticulous organization of the event. Local leaders Sri Pyla Jagannatham and Sri Venkata Ramana also extended their support, which strengthened community participation.
Patient screenings were carried out by Dr Y. Sai and Dr Joseph from Sankar Foundation. The camp was supported by a dedicated team of employees and paramedical staff led by N. Appala Raju, Senior Manager ' Outreach; Arun Kumar, Manager ' Outreach; Eswar Rao, Senior Manager; Ramu, Senior Manager ' Optical Management; Ratan Raju, Manager ' Optometry Department; and other team members.
The camp recorded a total of 391 outpatients screened. Of these, 305 patients were prescribed spectacles, with 280 receiving spot delivery of glasses on the same day while the remaining 25 glasses will be delivered subsequently. Twenty-five patients were identified and selected for cataract and other eye surgeries under the Dr NTR Vaidya Seva scheme, and 70 patients were provided with medicines during the camp.
